"Same could be said for you. Where is Ikkaku?"
Yumichika heard his Captain ask him, and soon after that, a smile crossed his feminine features once he heard the same question be asked but in a very different voice, tone and in a manner that would have caused Ikkaku anger from one ear to the next.
"Yeah, where is Baldy?"
Of course, he could remember a number of times but not all due to how many of those times there actually were, when Ikkaku's face would redden with anger and his teeth would grit so hard he thought the other would explode once he began screaming. His best friend was a card no other could deal with but himself, and though at times it did annoy him when there was something of a great deal of importance going on, Yumichika always handled it in a way that apparently could cause Ikkaku to give it up.
"Actually, for the first time in a while, I don't have a clue as to where he is, Captain." He replied with a light tone of voice, smiling kindly down at Yachiru. He loved it when he was in such a good mood, but hated that Ikkaku couldn't be here for whatever reason. "I'm sure he's probably out having some fun himself."
He then stepped around his Captain and Yachiru, as she was on his shoulder, grinning up at him and plucked a piece of candy from a large glass bowl.
"You look pretty tonight Yumi, did you do something special to your hair?"
Wisteria irises looked carefully over the piece of candy, as if expecting it to eat him instead of the other way around. He knew he should eat a lot of sweets now that he was here, as it was a special occasion and Halloween only came around once a year, but he was hesitant. He always ate healthy for himself. Then he looked back to Yachiru.
"Does it look like I did~?" He asked her happily and with his free hand, ran it through his raven tendrils of shining, clean and silky hair. He hadn't done anything out of the ordinary to it, but comments like that always made him so joyful. Yumichika was obviously obsessed over his beauty and keeping himself at his finest. "I'm so glad it looks good~ But do you think I should eat this?"
Yumichika pursed his lips and looked down at the hard ball of candy, shaded a light purple with some pink over it. He wasn't sure what it was, but it seemed hard. Perhaps it had something within it, or maybe it was just something to suck on until it faded away. He'd never really had much candy before, and so he didn't honestly know.
Hearing the other bickering around them, he turned his head, distracted for the moment and his eyes caught sight of the science-loving Captain, the fox-like Captain, the short one, and the kind, respected Captain. He decided he didn't want to get into such bickering and wished everyone, sometimes, could just get along. He looked back to his candy, and then to Yachiru with an expression of wonder, awaiting her answer, though he knew any piece of candy she would probably think good for him to eat.

"You're so relaxed. And besides that, you invited the worst people."
Being relaxed was what he did, it just came naturally to the old captain. Fussing around he could do, and when there was cause for it he was certainly willing to do it, but even then on a more muted level than some. Relaxed... In his mind this was the state people should naturally be in, being uptight really wasn't at all good for you and could quickly lead to some rather troubling outcomes for you if you didn't watch what you were doing. Something like this was usually always a good solution to try and get people to relax. “I try,” he offered with a slight chuckle whilst rubbing the back of his neck, a lopsided grin present. “Though the company isn't that bad.” Oh many of the people here had their off quirks, something that made it harder for them to get along with another here, but on the whole it wasn't that bad. “Besides, having the chance the better get to know your coworkers is always good. Unity is important as I'm sure you know~” The power of the gotei 13 was in having all captains present and working together, without the soul society could likely easy fall.
"Of course. With all the commotion it's a wonder we ain't passing out."
Turning his attention to the silverish captain he laughed slightly before nodding, long bangs flopping as he did. “Very true!” Indeed it was, the sudden increased work load was rather strenuous. Of course no doubt they could all deal with the added work, but that did mean each had less time to do anything that they'd have liked to. Sometimes they all just needed a slight push to a break before they'd all just drop everything, this was the task Ukitake so often set himself. Sometimes it didn't always work to plan though, as it seemed to be with the eleventh captain. The man stood and yelled some obscenity about things Ukitake really didn't much need to know about, and then stormed off, flipping a table as he did. With a nervous laugh Ukitake scratched his head, that could have certainly gone far better. With a forlorn sigh a sheepish grin crossed him. “Oh dear... That certainly isn't good.” He really didn't seem in the least bit angry, though rarely did he anyway, especially not over something so trivial as this. There was nothing he could do about it now anyway. All there was to it was to just stand, smile, and nod.... Just smile and nod~
"It's quite hard for a man like me to get along with anyone."
Ohhh Ukitake knew that, he could see it so very easily, this captain really wasn't one to coexist with many people, if any. However he was ever the optimist, perhaps he could make things easier in some small way. “I do understand, but it would perhaps be worth trying do to so on this occasion.” Not a threat, not in the least. All he wanted was for the people here to just get along, was it so hard? Well apparently, but frankly Ukitake didn't much see why. Every individual here was intelligent and smart within their own right.... Though perhaps that was the exact issue on the matter. Each of them could accurately point out another's 'flaw' and pick at it until something just snapped, usually that something being the other person's temper. If they could all put this behind them and just relax then everything would be near perfect, but Ukitake supposed that wasn't going to happen. No, the people here were all going to bother others until the day was done, all Ukitake could do was keep it all from going to utter hell, it was admittedly a daunting notion for even him to take on... But if any were up to this task that had been set out it were certainly he. He'd not fail~
'What problem?' "Now now, this wont do. This is a celebration, best keep your temper under control Hitsugaya."
Listening for a moment he paused, biased on the matter would only make it worse. “And please captain Kurotsuchi, be more careful with your words.” This couuuuld have been going better to be honest, but he'd live and make do with it. At least people had actually come, though admittedly none of his own squad. It was a pity really, there was little of the spark in them that had once been there, a fact that was somewhat saddening. Still, he wouldn't judge this whole thing a total loss until people literally started trying to kill each other, at which point he was likely going to have to try and restrain one or two people... Ohhh it wouldn't come to that~ Just as long as you had faith things usually worked out rather well, at least in Ukitake's mind, and when you were topping Ukitake's age you had experience enough to judge things like this well enough. It was tense, certainly that, but so far the atmosphere was no were near bad enough to push itself to violence. Maybe, hopefully... If he was lucky anyway. Thankfully this was something he seemed to hold very large amounts of anyway.
"I don't see why so many people, especially you all of people, are interrupting. But you, Ichimaru, I expected you to keep silent... How strange."
….. Yeah, topic change now please~ “The sudden influx of work is rather odd~” Score on being subtle; 0. Regardless though it would probably prove a good enough distraction, somehow no matter how dumb his question was he seemed to be able to effectively quell things before they got to serious. He could seem dumb for it he supposed, odd too, but he didn't mind. He was a smart man, but not one to brag about it, instead he'd rather let people work it out alone if they could, let them stand for their own and hold up their own heads. He didn't mind how people thought toward him, just so long as they kept pushing on, kept bettering themselves, kept helping the people around them. So long as this were to happen Ukitake was content and always would be. As long as people were standing by each other life was fine, idealistic, but to Ukitake it had every chance of being realistic if people were only to try. One day they perhaps would, on that day he'd be pretty damn happy, more so than every other day if this were at all possible. Yet for now it wasn't in the all to foreseeable future.
OOC:// BLECK really bad, sorry BTW Yes, Kenpachi's left XP

[OOC : Bah sorry I've been all gone on you lot, life came up and bit me in the butt just a lil']
Yachiru silently observed Yumichika cross over to the candy, a cheerful grin spreading across her face. She was close to giggling at how intensely he was looking at it. So brave and so fashionable, and yet almost terrified of a piece of candy. She giggled as he seemed to fall right back into his old habits.
"Does it look like I did~?"
She nodded. "It looks extra pretty tonight Yumichika" She smiled sweetly, jumping down and walking over to stand next to him. Suddenly she felt small, but it didn't matter, she was used to it. Everyone here towered over her. "I'm so glad it looks good~ But do you think I should eat this?"
Yachiru looked up at him innocently and nodded, saying cheerfully "Of course you should, you're supposed to eat it!" Thats what candy was there for. To be eaten. Or at least she guessed so. The small lieutennant watched as Yumichika's gaze was drawn from the candy to the scene playing out beyond them.
"They better not fight." She said with a pout. "It'll ruin the party." She wanted this to be fun, and fighting at a party wasn't fun. Not unless the party was about fighting anyways.

"Hmmm..."
He simply ignored the look, or, whatever Mayuri was doing at the moment. What a waste of time, being here only to be be bothered by those who think they could amuse themselves by annoying those around them. Tch, totally a waste of time. His teal eyes traveled all around, looking at those of squad 11 for moment with this irritated look on his face. Not that he was irritated y squad 11, but he was just put in that mood. Gin didn't help either. In fact, it only mad his mood a bit more vile. Ichimaru. He was a shady figure. He didn't trust him for not even a full second. A strong but shady man. Two adjectives that don't go great together when describing someone's personality. Toshiro simply listened, but didn't turn to face him. He wasn't going to let him have have the satisfaction of showing that he was interested, because he wasn't. The tone that man used, ugh. This whole "party" was just pissing him off now. Jeez.
"Now now, this wont do. This is a celebration, best keep your temper under control Hitsugaya."
He simply let a chhh sound leave his teeth slightly. It wasn't directed at what was being said to him, but just the fact he was annoyed and bored was all. He could be finishing up the loads of work he had back t the office. Oh, he'd rather do that than stay here, though, Ukitake's words were going to keep the youth here. He could hear it in the way he spoke to him, the tone, everything. It wasn't hard to tell when someone wanted you to stay, but not wanting to say it up front. His greenish eyes moved towards the old man's brown ones, letting him out of all people have the benefit of being looked at and being of interest. It was somewhat amusing to see that Ukitake actually thought these people were actually good company. Unfortunately the small captain could not agree. These people were just... not company people. If Hitsugaya didn't know any better he could tell these people would rather be doing other things. It was quite obvious, wasn't it?
“I try, though the company isn't that bad. Besides, having the chance the better get to know your coworkers is always good. Unity is important as I'm sure you know~”
"Yeah I guess..." He said, his eyes trailing back to everyone else. He simply agreed to leave it at that, but, he didn't necessarily totally agree either. It was a weird subject really.
“The sudden influx of work is rather odd~”
Ukitake's topic change made the youth raise a white eyebrow in question. Smart move, but, it could have been more subtle. Huh, leave it to Ukitake to spontaneously change the mood of something for the benefit of everyone. The boy couldn't tell whether it was by choice or a habit. Whatever the case it didn't much matter. He remained bored and didn't feel like conversing anymore really. He just wanted to simply go back to work, or at least sit somewhere peaceful without all these annoying idiots. Tch. he knew it would be a long day with all these people, but he just had to take it in, despite the fact it would just annoy the crap out of him. Oh well. He was stuck here. It was rude to just leave and Ukitake was bound to drag him back. Yeesh. He simply looked over everyone, bored is all. There wasn't anything he found exciting. He still didn't see the point of it all.

'Very true!'
It was perhaps how eerie how this man could be so cheerful. But he simply kept his usual grin and unnatural squinted expression. But it wasn't long before the eleventh seemed to decide this wasn't for him. Not surprising, that man thirsted for battle, not for socializing with the rest of the Gotei 13.
'Oh dear... That certainly isn't good.'
How observant. The third himself was thinking of leaving, but something kept him here. Perhaps curiosity or perhaps the gluttonous need for information. What ever the reason the silver haired fox of a man wasn't going anywhere. Not to mention, this was a perfect opportunity to study the personalities of those around him.
'It's quite hard for a man like me to get along with anyone.'
It wasn't hard to tell, how could any one get along with ... that? He made no efforts to blend in, or even resemble everybody else. While it wasn't that important, it certainly was hard to avoid. His skin was covered, his hair done in an odd manner. He stood out like a fire in the middle of an ocean. You couldn't miss him.
'And please captain Kurotsuchi, be more careful with your words.'
If the strange man could. Sometimes he wondered if they had any common sense at all. Or did the simply blurt out what ever they felt like? What a pain. But the child captain did seem to show a small reaction to his own words, how interesting. But not quite what he had hoped, it would have been much more amusing had the boy snapped. After all, Shinso was waiting at his side, and he was well prepared to strike.
'I don't see why so many people, especially you all of people, are interrupting. But you, Ichimaru, I expected you to keep silent... How strange.'
He tilted his head a bit, bangs brushing over his eyelids. Perhaps had his eyes ever been open they would have closed a bit, but they remained. It was a wonder he could see at all. "And one wouldn't expect you to leave your lab." There was a snippy undertone, as if he had found a nice tender spot and he wanted to rip it out. But before he could even make the bite the thirteenth took their attention once again. Couldn't they let him have his fun? He couldn't just leave the topic like that. He didn't want too, it was just too easy to tug further. But he would not stand up against the thirteenth.
'The sudden influx of work is rather odd~'
He frowned a bit, work? Was that all they could talk about? "Indeed." His hands rested on the opposing arm, sleeves hanging neatly over them. And how it became boring once again. Each had branched off, the group remaining from the eleventh keeping to themselves for the most part, and then there was this rather odd gathering. Right now he was wishing Izuru had found that messenger instead of himself. The lieutenant would have been better suited for the situation. Ah, no debating it now, he was here. And going anywhere would likely be a waste of time.
It was safe to assume, Gin Ichimaru was not a party animal.

"I do understand, but it would perhaps be worth trying to do so on this occasion"
The very nerve...!
Mayuri felt his very own eye twitch at the thirteenth's stupid decision of telling him that. Lowering the hand slowly from his hat, he turned his head slowly to the side. He saw Ichimaru-- which just made him sneer and turn back to Ukitake. That fool! How dare he say that to me...! The very... How ... How foolish of him!! Mayuri was literally fuming in his head, trying to release all of his frustration within himself so he wouldn't end up stomping out of here in complete and utter frustration. As soon as he was about to talk back to the other man, he heard another "request" at the hands of Ukitake.
"And please captain Kurotsuchi, be more careful with your words."
Maybe if you wouldn't interrupt me-- my own businesses...!
This right here forced Mayuri to think that Ukitake wasn't the brightest man around. He narrowed his eyes and glared to the white haired man. Of all people, he was expected to watch his words? Had the man any idea how sensitive others were and how this wasn't any of his fault! Of course, even if it were his fault, Mayuri wouldn't admit to such and just keep making it out to be him who was provoked. Sometimes, though, it was just so blatantly obvious as to whom started an argument between him and...whoever!
It was almost always him.
"And one wouldn't expect you to leave you lab."
"...Tch." That was Mayuri could say at first as he turned to Ichimaru with his still narrowed eyes. He had saw the smiling man tilt his head just a bit-- something that enraged him. This man... This man had a bout of cockiness within him and it enraged him to no end. Struggling to bottle up all of his rage, Mayuri balled his hand (the one that was lacking a long fingernail) into a tight fist only to unball it later. What else made Mayuri want to snap back at the man was his voice. It had that tone in it... A tone he wasn't sure how to classify, but it was definitely a tone Mayuri hated to hear from others. It made him want to grab them by their throats and end their petty little existence. ... Of course that wouldn't be allowed due to this captain being a highly (surprise, surprise) feared captain. In all honesty, the only reason Mayuri had to fear him was his always smiling face. Even that struck a somewhat awkward feeling within the scientist.
"The sudden influx of work is rather odd~"
His facial expression dropped into a deep and unpleasant frown. Work? Is that all IUkitake could think of distracting them with? "...Sure," Mayuri grumbled angrily out before looking over his shoulder towards the snack table. Ahead he saw the eleventh division-- or what was all left of them. He could only see Yumichika and the girl-- that annoying little hell child-- Yachiru, was it? He was sure it was Yachiru and didn't care if he were wrong. What reason did he have to remember all of their names? It wasn't like his life depended on remembering names. That's when his short attention span kicked in, and he turned his back to the group. "You have fun chatting..." he had muttered almost inaudibly. Morons.
At times like these, he wished he actually had yanked Nemu along.
Stepping over to the table, Mayuri made sure to keep enough of a distance so he wouldn't have to explain his presence to the eleventh division members. All he wanted was was something to distract him from his anger. His eyes scanned over the assorted things-- food, he guessed. Shrugging, he crossed his arms back over his chest and stared down at the food once more. As far as Mayuri could remember, he had no such need for things as food like everyone else around these parts seemed to desire. It just seemed so useless and barbaric at the same time.
Snorting, he let his eyes move over to look at the two eleventh members. Yumichika, whom was a man that literally gave Mayuri the creeps when he was walking like some sort of girl. Disgusting. And Yachiru... Well, she was all levels of hell put together in a small child. That was bad enough for his mind to handle.
He then turned his attention back to the food.
... Even listening to Yumichika bicker about his image was boring to his ears.
oc;; just a note, mayuri still has his old attire on since it'd just...be WEIRD if he spontaneously became pharaoh!mayuri

"It looks extra pretty tonight Yumichika."
The little girl had smiled so sweetly, jumping down and skipping over to him. He had to look down at her but Yumichika was fairly sure the little girl didn't mind being short, as everyone always towered over her and yet never did she say a thing about it or even frown over the matter. She was always so happy. Even Yumichika wasn't always happy. He had his bad days.
"Of course you should, you're supposed to eat it!" She exclaimed, her eyes lighting up, large and innocent as always. She always called a smile to Yumichika's feminine features. She never judged, at least not about the people Yumichika himself thought was beautiful and that was a good quality probably only Yumichika saw in her. He held the candy up to his lips after turning his head, gazing towards the scene out before them.
"They better not fight." Yachiru said with a firm pout in place of her usual happy tone, "It'll ruin the party." That it would, Yumichika agreed. He smiled fairly and looked down to her once more, lifting his hand not holding a piece of candy and patted her lightly.
"It should be fine," He began, "They should be more mature then to start a fight at such a party. If Captain Ukitake was kind enough to start it, I'd rather there not be a fight." And it was true. If a Captain had began this party, especially one that Ukitake had began, then why ruin it? Captain Ukitake had always wanted there to be happiness, was always kind and always loved candy.
Lightly, Yumichika pushed the small ball of candy through his lips and bit. He hardly noticed at first, the Captain that ran a cold finger down his spine the most had walked over. Once biting into the candy, his eyes immediately widened and a feminine sound of pain escaped him. He covered his mouth and fought not to spit out the piece of candy. Instead of it breaking, it hadn't broke at all. It was rather hard. Now his teeth ached and he couldn't figure out for the life of him why the candy hadn't even chipped.
"Ow! " Still though, he found it impolite and dangerously disgusting to spit out the small ball of candy, spite the fact it was only wet. It may be sticky though, he kept thinking, and for someone to see him do that would make a rather horrible impression--on himself![/blockquote]
