Kohaku is in many respects a lazy and carefree individual, he procrastinates up to the point where he has absolutely no choice but to do it. In respect to him it is always done on time, and whatever it is is done to a high degree, but unless there is something wrong it will never be done before the deadline. During the times he's slacking off he tends to just act like a total goof, someone who just tends to joke around and distract people who are actually trying to work. This rather irritating habit of his makes people either quick to love him, or quick to loath him with a fiery passion, there is little middle ground in consideration of him for the most part. He is very much an incredibly social person, leaving him with a friendly personality. He does tend to get on with most people, though his laid back attitude can be taken as rude at times for the fact he doesn't tend to stick with calling superiors 'sir', instead he'll very likely fall to their first name.
Despite his jokey personality he does have a more serious side to him, usually when it comes to fulfilling the roll his family set upon him, or keeping someone he cares about safe. In truth Kohaku doesn't much care for being a soul reaper, indeed had it been left to him he'd not at all have become such at all. Whilst this is so though he will do absolutely anything to fulfil the wishes of his family, even if it means having to give up a lazy lifestyle. During the time he displays his more dedicated side he seems to be far closer to the standards of someone of his class and standing, indeed it is only in these times that be can be seen as something more than a retarded goof who loathes having to do any form of work at all. As soon as the situation passes though he's very quick to regress back to his moronic self, something that can confuse the hell out of people, especially those that would think that someone like he should act on a more mature and respectable level.
Unlike many nobles, both those of high and low class, he tends to go for the whole 'everyone's equal' approach on things. In his mind rank and family by no means make someone better than another. This is something a vast majority of his family believe though. By nature the Mihara family are indeed proud, holding their place in society with a regard that they value over their own lives, however through this they have a strong belief that everyone has a place and use in the world. For the most part Kohaku fits with this, though unlike the rest in his family he tends to disregard his position in his family, only wearing the ornate accessories etc to please the others. Whilst he does work to honor his family he doesn't necessary accept his own standing, often skirting the topic if it's brought up, or totally changing the subject. It's hardly that he's ashamed or shy, he just doesn't overly see the point in creating a system open to tyranny, it seems like something a 'dumbass on crack' would do, if we were to put it into his own words.

¤ Zanpakuto name: Musei Sabaku (Silent Desert)
¤ Sealed appearance: Two katanas of average length, the wrapping on the hilts is a burnt orange color, with the cross guards consisting of three prongs that curve in towards the blade, before twisting to circle the base of the sword in a corkscrew shape.

¤ Shikai ability: Earth manipulation, specifically the magma in the mantel.
¤ Abilities:
Kakuu Kaen (Aerial Blaze):- The most basic of Musei's abilities is the simple shifting of the magma under the mantle of the earth. By shifting the magma around the geothermal energy is altered, allowing him to control and manipulate the thermals in the air around him. This can make weak projectile attacked useless on him, and indeed it can alter the course of stronger ones, making it frustrating for his opponent.
Naki Hahen (Weeping Shard):- By forcing the magma up against minor faults or weaknesses in the crust he can further them causing the earth to jolt in accommodation, this can cause a quake of varying strengths. Being the considerate soul he is he makes a fair point to repair the underlying damage as he goes, no need for mass destruction~
Ryuuchou Daichi (Flowing Earth):- Manipulation of the ground into various formation, ranges from projectiles, pillars, and shields. In theory he could makes some totally moronic statue, but lets not give him ideas.

A large serpent with wings, similar to quetzalcoatl. It's made up of sand and stones that seem to be constantly shifting to break up the actual physical shape of it. Running through its core is a stream of magma that can often a time be seen when the sand and stones shift appropriately.

A tall woman wearing a white kimono with a light pink cherry blossom pattern on the sleeves. Across her shoulders she wears a scarlet shawl. Her hair is solid white, and is always worn up, held in place by various ornamental hair pieces. She has sharp red eyes, though her face is covered by a mask of war paint of the colors white and red.

Kohaku was born into the Mihara family, a long-standing mid-standard noble family. Through a lot of his childhood there was little that happened worth noting other than having been made his family's heir, not so much due to his work ethic, but more due to his devotion to his family's honor and the natural kindness he continually showed.It wasn't until he reached the age of around 70 that something actually worth noting occurred.
It started with a cramping in his stomach during a period of which he'd taken to wandering off for days on end (much to the utter horror of his family who didn't much think it was a good idea). Not entirely sure what it was he simply took to ignoring it, continuing as he was. Things only worsened, and having little idea of what the hell was actually wrong it simply got worse until he collapsed from it.
Waking up to see a rather worried set of family elders he was shocked when they didn't all out yell and scream at him, instead they simply told him he'd collapsed from hunger. This in itself had been a shock to the family, spiritual pressure was not often found in individuals of the Mihara family, and so they quickly started training him in the arts used by soul reapers. Somewhat disheartened by this sudden change he resisted for a time, until the pinned him with the ever so kind 'the pride of the family is on your shoulders'. Caving to their will he consented, starting training before he entered the academy. Upon joining he finalised his education, passing it easily.
Some time after that he gained his shikai, during which period he often found himself shuffled around a couple of squads before he was set into the ninth, which is where he currently serves.
