Now things were to change, the pendulum of fate would swing and life would fall onto a whole new path dictated by but one person. Tonight would simply be the first step, the first rung in the ladder that would ultimately lead to the fall of the forty six. People would of course die on this day no doubt, but the devastation here would be nothing like the things to come, for each single life lost on this night the number would be doubled on the next calling, and then doubled again on the one to follow. The events of this night would seem as a simple walk in the park in the grand scheme of things, though it would still be a nightmare it would be one that would fall to the back of people's minds once the true games came into play. Of course, this was on the theory that the soul reaper's had worked out the message left for them, had they not then this whole town would be pulled apart, nothing would survive the rampage that had already started. If the stupid fools had failed then every soul here would be devoured, it would though systematically end with this down though, the destruction would go no further for the time being. At the moment this was but a simple message, one to say that there was a very serious threat, and also one that would start to cast suspicions as to what could be causing the problems. Hollow one:// Crystal The large bat like creature sat perched upon the top of a lamp, drool running freely from its slack jaw where it would fall to the earth and cause a deep hiss as it eroded it's way though the earth. Uttering a soft clicking noise it narrowed glowing eyes, a sharp screech coming shortly after. Had the humans been able to see this masked beast they'd have no doubt run, and yet they could not. With all misfortune for them though the creature could plainly see them, and also smell the tantalizing smell of their souls. Most hollows never bothered with humans, such weak souls... Not worth the effort. Yet something, or rather someone, had twisted the mind of this creature (and also the others here) to desire such. Right now the beast did want just that, and as the heartless beast pounced down on a passing human. The brutality of hollows never really seemed to know any bounds, though thankfully it seemed there was only a single yelp of shock before the life was ended and soul devoured. The creature was by no means satisfied, and lifting a now blood stained mask it let out a sharp cry before continuing its hunt for food. Hollow two:// with hollow three:// Kiya Lifting its huge serpentine head above the waves the eel like monster gave a low hiss, its breath condensing in the night air. As the water dripped from it it rose a larger portion of its elongated body from the water, the waves causing the docked boats to sway and in some cases shatter against the docks. The commotion of it all seemed to draw people from their homes, a terrible mistake for them as the hollow reared its head back and began drawing air into its mouth. It seemed that this hollow's main directive was to use to simply suck the human's right into its mouth, which it did with a morbid ease. Quickly though it could be seen that this was not the sea beasts intention as a single barb on its back began to glow a bright blue color, the hollow making a seemingly coughing noise all the while. With a sharp jerking noise the creature thrust it's head closer to the ground before parting its jaws, and then seemingly throwing up some teal colored writhing mass. What it actually was didn't seem to be entirely clear to begin with, though as it seemingly stood up and made a low keening sound it seemed very much to be a hollow. Hollow three:// with hollow two:// Kiya With a shiver the small hollow stood and let out a small whine, its jaws parting slightly as it did. Shuddering the beast shock, the thickly matted fur along its spine fanning out and firing a thick bile like substance off in various directions. Looking up toward the large serpent with cold red eyes it tilted its head slightly and let out a high pitched bellow, one causing the larger beast to drop its head and allow the smaller one to clamber on. Seating itself it retained all sense of balance as the large beast it had spawned from pushed itself onto the land. Scanning the area slowly a long drizzle of noxious fumes rolling from it's nostrils as it did, a small trill coming from it suddenly as if it had spotted something of interest. In response the large eel turned off, apparently following the given directions of the smaller one gave. Hollow four:// Ani Stalking through the near silent street the hollow swung a near baboon like head from side to side, looking, searching, for its next meal. Human or spirit, frankly the hollow didn't much care either way, one simply had more wast flesh to work around. Giving of a low guttural growl it parted its mouth somewhat, long saber like fangs still passing well below its lower jaw as it did so. “Sssssso feeeeeeew,” it hissed, head still swaying from side to side. Where were the humans? Were they hiding? Or perhaps the humans had simply been devoured already, a curse to the other beasts here. Were they really so inconsiderate as to leave nothing for him? Huh, damn brutes, they really did have no sense to them. Oh well, at the end of the day it would be those beasts who were brought down by soul reapers, they were fools who thought of nothing but their own hunger. Wellllll, at least at the end of the day that did mean more prey for him, yes, at the end of the day the soul reapers really seemed to be working for him. Oh how simply delicious, they thought they were destroying his kind, really they were only helping the strong. How foolish of them~
ooc:// This thread is ONLY for the people listed in the title. AND GUYS you need to tell me which hollows you're attacking~ /would rather two of you took one each and the other took 2+3 83 ANDSORRY it's messed up XD

He oh so wondered why he was sent here. This was a job someone ranked lower than him could handle. But by request, he was sent here to the World of the Living to assist the other officers. He rank quickly, his body at a slant where he could run faster. The night was not a bother to him. It was just another time of day and he was trained to deal with lack of lighting. But the humans have evolved with their technologies and allowed them to have artificial light. Oh what an advantage. The lieutenant silently sprinted through the shadows of buildings to reach his destination. Hollows were a foot. There were a nice few of them, but, why where they all cluttered up n this one location? Maybe there was some high energy there. Or a lot of wholes. He had no time to loose then.
He quickly ran through the streets, the moist air of the nearby harbor warding off some of the cold air. He didn't once huff for air. That would give him away easily. Besides, he had enough stamina. Though, maybe being on the ground was too obvious. While running, Hisagi bent down and thrusted his legs, forcing him way up in the air, landing on top of a lamp post. Better, now he could see the ground much more. He could see more without having to run so much. He brushed a short bang out of his face before he jumped to the next post, then the next, and the next. It had been a while since he had been sent to the World of the Living. The one time he did remember well though, was when he was attacked by that damn Hollow. That was the worst. The damn thing gave him a permanent scare along the side of his face. Coming back at night didn't help his memories.
But he had a job to do, which was protect everything there. And soon enough, he found himself jumping lamppost after lamppost, looking for the Hollow that his sense were picking up. What was so hard about finding a- there it is. The Soul Reaper looked down at the ugly beast. Hisagi leaped down at the one with a monkey like head. Ewgh. What an ugly thing. Then again, all Hollows were like this. His shihakusho helped him better hide in the night like this, but now that he put himself out in the open, there was no way he as going to hide now. The Hollows will be attracted to his high, lieutenant-leved spiritual pressure. Hey, better him than any other soul, right? These Hollows didn't seem like they were terribly dangerous. After all, this was a mission unseated officers can take. He waited for the creature to make a move.
[ ooc: Ew. This is UNCONFORTABLY short ><; ]

What an odd team, the lieutenant from the nineth squad leading two unseated members of the thirteenth into the world of the living. She didn't complain, he got them here in one peice. As soon as the arrived though they seemed to split off, best to cover more ground. They all had shikai, and that alone would likely be all they needed for even the strongest of hollows that could show up here. Of course hers wasn't perfected yet, but it was still pretty damn useful. To be able to mask your existance from a hollow until it was too late for them. She was taking a slow pace, so far there was no need to rush, yet.
She stopped, something was wrong. And the sharp cry of death followed by a terrible wail confirmed that. "Oh fun ...." She bent her knees and began running again, pulling the dark hilted katana from it's sheath at her side. Her light foot fall sent her towards it with ease. Her sharp blue eyes focused on the path ahead as her mind followed the spiritual path she had plotted out. Her only regret was that she couldn't have saved it's first target.
It wasn't long before she caught sight of the beast. It wasn't overly large by hollow standards, heck even by her standards it wasn't all that big. She held the sword infront of her and took a deep breath. "Screech, Kuroi Fukurou!" The blade rippled, a high pitched whine emiting from it. Her grip tightened as she forced more energy into the blade, a silent encourgagment to release. It may be part of her soul, but it refused to listen to her with out a bribe. As soon as she stopped the flow the whine stopped and the blade began to split apart into transluecent feathers. The feathers gathered over her shoulder blades, spreading out into a set of wings. With a grin of triumph she twisted the hilt, the wings folding around her body. To the spiritual world, she was no more.
She began to speed up, her pace now quickening to a run. She was with in striking range, when the black owl of her blade decided it didn't want to work any more. The feathers exploded from her back, her form revealed fully once more. A silent curse passed her slightly parted lips. The blade reformed, whining slightly again. "Damn owl." It was likely because of the lamp posts surrounding the road below. She couldn't control the lights! Or her blade it seemed for that matter. She also realized that as her blade released she had also release a large amount of spiritual pressure. Well that just sucked. The hollow would be on her tail now, and she was stuck with a stubborn zanpaktou. Glaring at the beast she sighed, closed her eyes slightly and made a small vow.
She would not let that beast live.

[OOC: This didn't turn out liked I'd planned ><]
Night, a time that meant different things to each person. Sleep, calm, or perhaps even romance, but perhaps the one common thing that could have been said about it, was its consistency. Night always followed day, beginning and ending with ease, but tonight it seemed there would be something different to the night, something that was not usually found within that predictability. Footsteps resounded off of slate roofs, picking up speed as Rukia broke into a run, leaping across the gaps in the houses with ease. This hadn’t been something she had expected, to be requested for this mission, but she had been all the same by her Captain, along with another member of her squad though she knew very little of the girl if she was honest, but perhaps for the mission it mattered very little, she knew her name, and that was enough. Lieutenant Hisagi from the ninth squad had also been requested for the mission, though Rukia surmised that was as a precautionary measure should Leiko and herself be getting into more danger than first imagined.
Almost as soon as they had arrived in the world of the living the three of them had split up, a move that whilst perhaps had the potential to be dangerous was deemed necessary given the situation. The dark haired soul reaper had found herself within relatively close proximity of the sea and that was when she had sensed the hollows presence, and that had sent her into a run, choosing to use the rooftops as her path rather than the streets, merely for the fact that up here, she could get a better view of the town. She had thought there was only one hollow at first, at least that was what she had sensed, but soon the energy became stronger momentarily before her she felt the presence of another....two hollows....this was never a good sign.
Screams, the first thing that caught her attention as she drew closer, before she saw it, the large eel like hollow shimmering in the moonlight, the smaller hollow perched atop the larger. There were still people around, people who had perhaps heard the hollows entrance, though it was reasonable to assume that they could not see them. Wasting little time the young soul reaper withdrew her Zanpakuto from it’s sheath at her side, the blade glinting as she leapt from the rooftops, landing gracefully upon the ground before breaking into another run, straight towards the hollow. All that mattered was exorcising them both before anyone got hurt....though perhaps it would not be wrong to assume that some might have already been injured, but for the moment, this was her objective. With a slight bend of her knees, Rukia took to the air once more gripping her Zanpakuto in both hands as she leapt in front of the hollow, swinging her Zanpakuto sideways as she did so in an attempt to slash its mask.

Maybe it was kind of ironic that they were here at night when the hollows liked it most, or something strategic. If the hollows came out during the night, then it would be easier to track them and slay them. Simple. The Soul Reaper twirled his katana before gripping it by his side, the blade glistening against the moonlight. He wasn't at all worried for himself, more so worried about the two unseated officers that he had to supervise for this mission. One, he heard, was a newer member of the two. The other, had been there for a very long time, bust still had not received a seat. He could understand Leiko's, he tried to remember, name, since she was new and all, but Rukia? She had been there for a long while now. Wonder why the captain of the thirteenth didn't give her a seat? Maybe her skills didn't satisfy him.
Though, he sensed where they were, and knew one of them had to resort to using Shikai. He didn't need to use his. No, he would only use his Shikai if he was on the verge of death and there was no other way to defeat the opponent. This weak opponent, just a regular, normal Hollow, that stood before him, was not something he would use his release on. The shape of the damn thing was rather intimidating, even to himself. So right now, he positioned his sealed blade in front of him and narrowed his eyes at the monkey-shaped creature. It's eyes were a searing red that was easily seen in the night. It took another step forward as it growled and walked into the light of the lamppost as it lit up the small area. The beast's arm entered the diameter, it's shape very human, yet also animal-like. The rest of it's body lit up as it took it's place at the center of the light, as if it was a spot light. Yeah yeah, show off.
Breathing out as if he was warming up before hand, the lieutenant ran up to the creature and swung the blade with one hand at it's mask. Just running was probably enough to catch the creature, right? His speed was enough, wasn't it? Uhm, no. The baboon figured creature leaped out of the way so easily. A 'damn' slipped through the lieutenant's lips as the creature leaped on the lamppost. It let out a hoarse roar as it's jaws opened, revealing it's disgusting teeth. Hisagi merely sighed. This was going to be a runner, wasn't it? He jumped up high to reach the Hollow, and swung his arm to cut the creature once more. He failed gain. The Hollow leaped to the next lamppost and titled it's head, it mocked him. For a ssssoul reaper, you ssssure are sssslow~ Asshole. The young man grunted and landed on the lamppost, crouched down at eye level of the beast before him.
He did not reply as he leaped forward at the Hollow before him. It let out a hoarse chuckle as it leaped to the next one, mocking him. Hisagi's swing missed and hit the lamppost beneath his feet. He grunted. This Hollow was going to b a pain in the ass, wasn't it? He sighed. For a low-classed Hollow his thing was proving to be more cunning then let up. But, it wasn't as intelligent of one of higher level. Now he could take advantage of such, he would. He would have to think of a way while he kept the thing moving to distract it from any wandering souls that would just happen to pass by. Hisagi leaped for it again, and it did the same thing. It seemed like it was getting bored, while Hisagi only grew a bit more frustrated. He would think of a way, he knew. He wasn't about to let a Hollow like this slip his hands while he was a lieutenant. He was the rank he was for a reason, and it wasn't because he could kill these things good.
Flashstepping behind the thing he quickly spun around and slashed the creature's back. It tried to leap while Hisagi tried to swing, and it turned in favor for the lieutenant. Good. He landed on the concrete easily and watched the creature with a serious face. What was the thing going to do next? He had to predict, but it was hard to. While Hollows had low intelligence it did not mean they were predictable. Sometimes they were quite the opposite, and he had to think the latter each time for the best results on his part. The creature's back began to bled considerably as it screeched, echoing off into the small town only to be heard by other wandering spirits. They now knew danger was around. Shuhei stood his ground as the hollow crashed into the concrete ground and shrieked. It's ape like arms reached for it's back as it that would do anything. But it wouldn't. The lieutenant sprinted off towards it and swung at it again, bu once more, the creature evaded his attack. Great. He sighed and turned to face the creature. It was getting slower. The injury slowed it down. That was a good sign.

Sure enough the beastly hollow turned his white mask towards her. She cringed, the hungry look it wore was nothing new but it still gave her the chills. It let out a trill cry and leapt from its perch, wing like appendages fanning out and pulling it into a swoop. Nervously she held up her blade, waiting.
It drew closer every second, until she could smell the stench of death upon its breath. She wrinkled her nose and before it got any closer she shot towards it. She went to slash down upon its mask, but it pulled its wings tight to its body and plummeted beneath her. She looked beneath her, pupils dilating as the beast sprung from the ground, jaws open. She used flash-step to get out of the way. She stared as it sailed past, let out a whine of disappointment. Before levelling off it circled around. She had to twirl as fast as she could to find it directly behind her. Her eyes narrowed, so it was a fast one. A sigh passed her lips, this wasn’t going to be easy, but it never was.
The hollow had perched itself upon a fence post. Its wild eyes said everything with out doing a thing. Saliva shot from its mouth as it let out a roar. Its back toes curled over the edge, knees bending slightly. It seemed to be waiting for her to take the first move. While she would have preferred to avoid that it seemed she had little choice in the matter. Her fighting style was much less, refined, than most other soul reapers. Giving her a small advantage at least. She flash stepped towards it, pulling her sword hilt towards her, the blade parallel with her arm. She punched out and hashed through the air, but the beast had moved. It roared as it’s wing was torn, seemingly the only damage. It leapt into the air, its flight now jerky, unable to keep balanced. She grinned slightly, so she could hit it, great. That was the best news she got since coming here.
Though it was still determined, it would not be taken down so easily. Taking a much wider turn it spun around for her, jaws parted wide. It’s mournful cry echoed through the empty air, soon filling her ears. She held the blade in front of her, spinning the hilt through her fingers till the blade was parallel with her body. Though it wasn’t quite her style, she could still fight using the sword as, well a sword, instead of the knife like style she normally uses. Unlike her normal boxing style she could move swiftly and accurately, but the damage was often so clean that it was easily ignored. But it was perfect for slashing off limbs. As the hollow swooped towards her she let out a cry of her own and slashed at the damaged wing.
There was a squeal of pain as the blade lodged itself in the wing. Her eyes grew wide, why hadn’t it gone through? It turned its burning eyes to the girl, snarling deeply. With a powerful down stroke the blade slide out, and she dropped a bit before gathering energy at her feet and staying there. Ok, so the joints were stronger than the membrane itself. But it was having a hell of a time staying airborne now. She noticed it’s attention shifted, a human was wandering by. “Shit!” She had been so busy she hadn’t noticed. She let herself drop to the ground and ran for the oblivious human. It was a teen male, and he seemed to be too absorbed in his music too even notice the chilled air of the hollows presence. “Bakudo one, sai!” She had to keep him out of this.
‘AUGH, WHAT THE HELL!?’
Typical response, but at least he was out of the way now. She stood directly in front of him, standing firm. She wouldn’t let another soul be harmed because of this monster. “You want to eat us? Then come on!” The hollow was now on the ground, flying was getting more and more difficult for it. It wasn’t walking easily either, it’s one shoulder was bleeding badly. This shouldn’t be too hard now, but she wouldn’t relax yet. Not until the beast was gone from this world.
